It has great potential But if anything triggers it then you are going to miss all subsequent events until you manually rearmreactivate it Lets say you want to see who came and went to your gatehousecabinstorewhatever First noise or movement that sets it off will make you miss all subsequent events until you manually reset it Ive called them before and they said we are considering this They are nice people but this is crazy Like other reviewers sey they do freeze up regularly maybe once every week or so That I can even deal with And if you have multiple pipers you do not get addition protection only the main piper triggersrecords anything once and then it is done All the other ones do nothing except let you do a live view but they are useless as an actual security feature Maybe they are just trying to save on disc space for themselves and are too cheap to allow for the extra storage this would require Then state that upfront andor give options to purchase the required cloud spaceor use our own There are plenty of other options out on market until they hopefully address this main issue So far its been over a year and they have not addressed it     Useless without rearm feature multipiper even more useless

I agree the app does take a while to load which is annoying sometimes I have to completely close it out and reload it Usually connects fine afterwards Still a good product just needs an app tweak           Little better

The Piper is a great product beautifully designed simple to set up and simple to use Unfortunately I had to return mine because it lacks an autoreset feature ie once its been triggered and records a 35second video clip it stops monitoring for motion until youve MANUALLY reset it from your iPhone If youre busy dont notice the alarm and dont reset Piper you now have NO ALARM and no subsequent video clips if theres new motion a few minutes later Ive suggested to Piper that they upgrade the software to allow the user to select an autoreset feature If they do that Id buy it again in a heartbeat           Piper Needs To Fix This

This system could be great if the company had any engineering design skills Beautiful concept design but low quality programming and not well thought through from the user standpoint Like other reviewers Ive had a series of problems getting this system working for more than a few weeks at a time Save your money           A lot of promise but still a ways away

The system is working about half the time Alarms are not reliable We are on a 300mbs super fast commercial internet connection Would be nice to be able to download the videos from the devicecloud to my iPhone Looking for a better solution now        Spotty Not acceptable for security

Luckily the worst thing my piper camera has shown me is my son jumping on the couch But knowing that I can just log in and see whats going on in my home at any time really gives me a real feel of security                 Love the peace of mind it gives

Piper is a DIY alternative to the traditional security systems out there Great system for renters aptsmall home dwellers and those with familykids or pets I love the twoway audio function because it reminds me of a walkie talkie be careful doing this to house sitters or others who dont know about your Piper because you may end up scaring someone The sensors are a nice addition in order to keep an eye on your windows and doors but the camera can be used solo Its also easy to use the app and you can set rules for notifications you want to receive The Home Vitals tab is also very neat and allows you to gauge the motionsoundhumidity levels etc in your house As for recommendations Id like to be able to view video on my computer and record video whenever I choose not just when a security event occurs I see Piper as the little engine that could and I think this market is just starting to bloom Its definitely a trendsetting product and Im glad its keeping an eye over our house                 Piper keeps you pipedin to your surroundings

Well I was just about to download the socalled update but after reading these blistering reviews I will not The app seems to be working ok for me as is so I will leave it at that for now My only complaint with Piper is that it claims to be HD but the video I get is the lowest blurriest quality     UH OH

I have been using this unit for 12 months and have been very satisfied as to what it can do in such a small package It is a security system pet friendly and allows secure real time video streaming The camera resolution could be better but it is good enough I have 2 units on the one network it allows for multiple units Also great for monitoring a second home if you have a wireless network there Plucky Canadian company Not sure why the short sucky review Very undeserved This system really works for me and solves my problem                 Great Device for Apartment Dwellers

I bought mine with the door window sensors for my apartment slider and front door Install took me less than an hour I am having a great time checking on my cats and I actually caught my landlord coming by to check in my heater This is a great product for apartments I have ordered one for my inlaws                 Simple to install easy to use

Owned it for eight months and it works great Very dependable Will be getting the new one soon                 Fantastic device

Why can I schedule my paper to go on at 11 PM and off at 6 AM every day What is the so difficult about adding that It only calls me anyway Which is what I wanted come on Fix this simple change Its been a year           Such an easy change would make such a big difference

I have had Piper for about a year It has been reliable for the past 4 months or so after several months of intermittent problems At first it wouldnt work with ATT DSL andor the modem I have to use Tech support helped me through firewall issues so Id get it working only to lose connection a few weeks later and have to get back to the cabin to manually reboot Finally changing Pipers name in the modem settings to match Pipers name in setup seems to have solved the problem So now its pretty reliable even after a power outage its able to reconnect Main missing helpful feature would be to be able to reboot troubleshoot better remotely And updating the app to look right on an iPhone 6 would be nice              Works well after some hiccups

Nice app looks pretty and great when it works but what use is a security cam app when its offline so often that you cant view your house for days and days when youre away           Offline too often

This app has worked very well I have the Piper NV The only issue has been when the alarm is on the status may still say off even though the pic shows its on Easy to use and great otherwise              Good App

This securityautomation product has so much potential but it seems like the stability issues and features are getting little if any effort from the development team Im sure the founders cashed out when icontrol bought the company That does little good for those of us who are relying on this product The app often has difficulty connecting to Piper I found that sometimes it helps to terminate the app and reload it Other times it just takes many tries over many minutes to actually connect quite a nuisance when a false alarm is going off The only update to Z wave support since this was launched is support for a dimmer module Id like to see support for glass breakage detectors water detectors motion sensors and other Z wave products but it doesnt seem like this is a priority for the company I was an early adopter buying this during the initial funding campaign Im sorry that I bought it Knowing what I know now Id pick something else        Great potential not realized

I have been using Piper for a few days now and would recommend several updates to the App 1 It would be nice for Piper to use the phones GPS and automatically turn off when I arrive home 2 Adding a section under rules for selecting a time andor date range to activate Piper For instance I would like Piper to be able to automatically switch from off to away or whatever setting you wish from 11pm until 6am while I am asleep 3 There needs to be a way to deactivate the siren within the app Create a separate password to deactivate it but not being able to turn that thing off easily is a huge problem for the user I have also been having issues with Piper not registering movement and recording videos It seems it waits a certain amount of time before alertingrecording a new video this is annoying and a potential reason not to buy Piper You would think spending the money on a device dedicated to this activity would work better than a simple iPhone app such as Presence which uses an old phoneiPadiPhone as the camera and does essentially everything Piper does           Love Piper needs a few features

We were looking in to getting home security after buying our new home and couldnt really afford the ones like ADT ect So this fit perfect in our budget After my husband deployed to Iraq I was left alone with a toddler far away from family and friends so having Piper helped ease my mind I havent yet encountered any issues or glitches since having it I wanted to wait about 5 months before writing a review just in case but so far its been PERFEXT                 I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Piper

Updated the app now I dont get video     Dont bother

The latest version seems to have fixed the problem of wifi access not connecting frequently Its been running now for 5 days without any buffering issues and it loads much faster              New version more stable

Doesnt connect to piper at all Had high hopes for this device with all the nice features also would of bought 4 units of everything went smooth Failed first try dont recommend at the moment     App is useless

Ive had our Piper HD for a few weeks now testing it in various rooms I had high hopes for it as a ZWave hub for our new home in a few months Well its great when it works which is almost never I have strong wifi at home with a range extender too It seems to drop the wifi connection after a few minutes of connection and WILL NOT RECONNECT As much as I try pushing the retry link unplugging etc the wifi is stable though ATT is pretty lame with drop outs frequent but Piper should reconnect when its back on right It does not I cant even find how to change which wifi it is connected to That part is not very user friendly The app is pretty good just not good at controlling the connection Seems easy enough I cant understand why its not reconnecting The app does give you easy access to recorded video Trouble is that it is very slow to connect Also the fact that we cant see other reviews is bogus I think Piper is not releasing them because they are so bad Right Piper People           Not so much nor so often

Since the last update my cameras except the first one installed dont report any activity anymore You can jump and walk in front of the cameras No alert issued Since the new app came out the system has become completely useless invested on 4 cameras 1000 a complete waste     App and security system doesnt work anymore

New icon looks great guys The app is very simple and serve its purpose flawlessly Im able to view my room and even activate my Amazon echo by talking through the intercom to activate my lights or I could just use the piper app The future is crazy people If you dont have a piper get one                 Excellent

Extremely frustrated with the inability to connected via LTE service My alarm just went off and I cant access the dashboard to see whats going on Sensors go off at the slightest movement or sound in stay mode even though I decreased the sensitivity and placed on pet mode Will customer service before I return this and get the viper system     Endless securing connection msg

I bought this after using a Canary for two weeks The only thing that Canary has over the Piper NV is goodlooking graphics a sleeker device and better video But if you want a security system and not a home monitoring system that looks cool go with the Piper So far it has been very reliable and I really appreciate Pet Mode With Canary I had to teach it everyday to ignore pets and ghost shadows and small splotches of sunlight and it still didnt learn It took me three tries to find a good setting with Piper where it would pick human movement up and not two cats and a dog Good system Also the Piper has a one second delay with video which is nine seconds better than Canary I will take better lag than good video any day Well thought out app and system                 Security

Recently purchased a Piper and I have spent over 2 days trying to get this to work with Piper It continuously states that it cant find a heart beat Called support very very hard to get in touch with them When I was able to get in touch they insist its a problem with my wireless router However after trying 6 different locations including public wifi the app still will not communicate with the device and complete the setup Very poor product Would highly recommend staying away from and buying something else such as the iSecurity or Canary     Very Poor App and Product

Bought the camera attempted to install at my office the app couldnt find the network Tried resetting the device and troubleshooting according to the help site Never worked Same thing at home Got to step two ONCE out of 20 or so attempts only to be told error in transferring Wifi info Waste of time boxing it up and returning     Awful

The apps connection to the Piper unit is stable over both wifi and LTE networks Very little lag time in viewing live video or updating rules Im not using any ZWave peripherals                 Works great

Total total crap I so wanted this product to work But it was nothing but problems from the start Tech did a great job on walking me through the issues but the bottom line is its 99 unreliable Just read the other negative reviews and I agree with them all It never worked for more than six hours Maybe down the line this product will be what I hoped for it to be but it created less security in my house than if it hadnt been in my house When the system locks up which it does 90 of the time you have to come back home and reboot it providing not too much peace of mind when youre away on a trip I received an alert that motion was detected and a loud sound was detected and then the system froze up I drove home 80 miles to find that there was no issue at all except the system had once again frozen up A company should not be Beta testing on paying clients ST     Not ready for prime time

This is by far the worst video quality None of the people in the video can be recognized So pixelated and blurry This is in no way 720p My Foscam 640x480 is honestly 4k in comparison If someone breaks in and you cannot identify the intruder what good is the system Also customer service was slow to respond and the process took over a week Close to 2 weeks for them to say the video quality is normal Go elsewhere for your system     Very very poor video quality

The app still takes forever to log in software is slow to do anything and it hasnt really improved in a year Support is slow to respond when they do     Still bad

Update Nov 18 2014 I did not believe it was possible but the video quality is worse We had better video from the moon in the 70s Aug 232014 I had such high hopes for this device Major flaw is the extremely poor video quality The website photos are deceptive and false You will never get clear images like the ones they post More likely they are of the bad quality like convenience store robbery videos posted on the local news Fuzzy and unrecognizable people Not useful for crime reporting if you had a breakin nor are the limited 15 sec Video recorded if alerts are set Zooming in is so pixelated you could not even tell which of your pets is in frame I have two pipers on one network One works most of time The other disconnects constantly or shuts down completely for no apparent reason Router pairing takes a bit of time It is best if your can assign a static ip for each piper Otherwise if you reboot your router your apps may not connect to piper if the device IP changes Zwave devices will pair with piper but according to other users cannot be controlled with your home controller only piper Once paired with piper you are stuck only using these with piper Not very useful for zwave lighting controls I have not invested in zwave devices due to this flaw Instructions from the vendor are limited Some users have posted more detailed help in the forum but piper shut down comments on many topics especially nonworking features Email support can take several days for a response but they will keep in touch and try to help usually recommending you do a complete reset of your devices which is a time consuming process Piper is a beautiful design great concept poorly realized product and deceptively advertised     Horrid video quality Not worth the setup trouble

I read the one star reviews after I had ordered my Piper unit I feared than when my unit arrived that I would experience a similar outcome Instead everything works terrifically I feel sorry for the users that did not find this to be so Maybe their problems are with their internet connection The App works great very fast and accurate True the Vitals pane is fairly useless but certainly not a deal breaker I am ordering another unit with additional sensors today Great App and system                 Works Great for Me

I like the app and everything that it can do it just seems to take a very long time to login connect to the camera or turn on any of the light switches Sometimes Im sitting in the dark for about 45 seconds before the light switch kicks on        Works well just needs a speed boost

Spent 300 on Piper camera and a few accessories Couldnt get the basic camera to connect to wifi systems neither at my office nor home networks Reset camera app iPhone iPad routers firmware etc Called customer service was on hold for several minutes then heard leave a message So I left one and still waiting for a call Packaged the system back up and will send it back tomorrow Ill order a DropCam tomorrow to try that out as theyre apparently being purchased by Nest and I really like their thermostat     Doesnt Work

I have been reading the reviews after I saw an update was available and decided I owed it to piper to write one of my own I have had piper for just over a year now and have had excellent results I installed for cameras and recently added a fifth night vision camera at my new house with a new job after a move While I have had some issues with the connectivity of the Z wave once I finally got them working they have worked very well I do wish for a couple of things including a more expensive list of Z wave support but Im currently using a Wink for a few other areas It helps to have both systems in case one goes down but I would like the integration of the two at some point The system has worked well for the security of my home as well as being able to monitor my young children who like to go in and out of doors without anyone knowing The support has been amazing fast and reliable I trust that this will continue and the capabilities will expand I looked at several systems and options before I decided to go with piper because of the expense of options of the camera itself and the flexibility of the system I would like to see an option in the software to be able to view all of my cameras at once as well as remove the limitation of five cameras that can be linked together as I could use a couple of more for key areas on my property I will say that I am fortunate enough to have some highspeed Internet which included at one point a fiber optic option and hope to have that fiber optic option again in my new location A good WiFi system is key and if you can get a static IP it helps but I currently do not have one and it is still working great                 First Review

I love the App and my Piper system I call it my PuppyCam I travel a good bit and have three 4legged kids back at the house My Piper lets me make sure the pet sitter comes by and takes care of the kids I found the voice feature to be great at letting me warn Crazy Mason not to eat my furniturelol The system was easy to install I am not a real tech kind of person The App gives me easy access to the device and my home Very cool                 PuppyCam
