City Guide is a high quality offline tour guide on your iPhone or iPod Touch. With City Guide, it`s easy to find out the best places to go, such as where to eat, sleep, and drink, before ...
I made reservations to go to New Orleans a few months ago Ive never been there so I knew I wanted to find something that would be a good travel companion app But all the apps I saw had lukewarm reviews at best So I waited it out hoping something better would come out before my trip Fortunately for me this app came out a few days before my trip
The app is solid with lots of viewing options to meet your needs It never crashed once and was very responsive It has a Night mode which would be better if it autoswitched between daynight modes like many GPS apps
I went through it on the plane and found it pretty useful There was good information on the city and history It has a pretty comprehensive list of restaurants lodging shopping tours entertainment transportation etc Like all good apps you can Bookmark listings of interest too Usually each listing had a picture description address email phone and hyperlink to their website The phone would automatically dial the number when clicked But for some unknown reason it doesnt launch the Map app when an address is clicked It seems so logical thats what should happen If I wanted to look up an address I had to copy the address and then paste it in the Map app to find it And then when you went back to the app that listing was gone so you had to drill back down to find it again That got old after a while
The other fundamental feature missing was the lack of a Search function This was rather frustrating too Many times I wanted to look for a particular restaurant but had to rely on browsing through lists of restaurants by food type Which sometimes isnt as easy as you might think in the Big Easy
Otherwise its a good app and only two functions Search and Map integration away from getting 5Stars Until then it only gets 4 Only a few features away from getting 5Stars
